Rawalpindi - It seems the inefficiency of doctors at the Punjab government hospitals and basic health units has continued to persist as another pregnant woman gave birth to a baby girl in a moving ambulance on Doltala Road , sources informed on Monday. The condition of mother child is stated to be normal after the doctors admitted them to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Gujar Khan, sources said.

The husband and relatives of an expecting woman namely Rizwana Bibi was taken to the Rural Health Centre (RHC) Doltala from Natha Chattar village at 4:45am for child delivery. After being admitted to the RHC, she was examined by a lady doctor who found her condition critical. The doctor referred Rizwana Bibi to THQ, Gujar Khan as the RHC had no equipment or doctors for emergency cases. The heirs of the pregnant lady immediately arranged an ambulance and put her into and started moving to Gujar Khan. While Rizwana being shifted to THQ, Gujar Khan in an ambulance, she gave birth to a baby girl, they said.

Finally, the family brought the mother child to THQ, Gujar Khan where doctors admitted the mother and baby girl in Gynae Ward and started treating them. “The condition of mother child is better and doctors are providing the woman medicines,” said a doctor.

Dr Amman Ullah, In-charge RHC Doltala, did not attend his cell phone when contacted by The Nation to know his point of view. Secretary Health Punjab was also not available for his comments.
