Islamabad - The Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s anti-encroachment campaign is in full swing as teams of the Enforcement Directorate are conducting operations in different markets, marakiz and other areas of the city on daily basis to remove encroachments.

Mayor Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Anser Aziz has said that encroachments are not only badly affecting the natural beauty of the city but also create hindrance in free movement of general public in markets and marakiz. He has directed to continue campaign against encroachments and illegal constructions without any fear and favour. In connection with the ongoing anti-encroachment campaign, the Enforcement Directorate on Monday conducted an operation in Melody Market and removed encroachments established between GPO and Aabpara Police Station and opened blocked passages for the pedestrians. Similarly, one dish washing plant and one illegally constructed shed were also razed in the Melody Market with the help of heavy machinery.

The operation was participated by the Directorate of Municipal Administration, Roads and other relevant formations of the Authority. According to the CDA officials, clearing pathways, green areas and footpaths are a priority of the authority.

Meanwhile, CDA has issued different orders regarding reinstatement into service, release of salaries etc. Four officials have been reinstated while minor penalty has been imposed on one official. The officers have been directed to submit their charge assumption / relinquishment and relevant reports to HRD and concerned Directorates accordingly. As per an office order, Khalil Ahmed Soomro, Director General (Civic Management), CDA will perform functions of an ‘Authorized Officer’ in relation to disciplinary cases against the officer of Environment Wing CDA, holding BPS-16 to BPS-19 with immediate effect till further orders in accordance with Regulation 8.02 of CDA Employees Service Regulation – 1992.

On the recommendations of Member (Estate), CDA as Authorized Officer in Inquiry Committee of “Corruption and Misconduct” an official of Land & Rehabilitation Directorate, Muhammad Saleem Babar, Junior Assistant has been imposed minor penalty of “Censure” under Regulation 8.04(1)(a)(i) of CDA Employees Service Regulation, 1992. Among Security Guards of Security Directorate which were reinstated into service are Palis Khan, Muhammad Aslam, Mudassar Iqbal and Umar Khalil.
