Shifa Int’l cricket team victorious
ISLAMABAD - Shifa International Hospital cricket team beat Gulshan Cricket Club Taxila by 5 wickets in a friendly fixture at PMO Cricket Ground Taxila. Put into bat first, Gulshan Club scored1 73-5 in 25 overs. Ali slammed unbeaten 55, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes while Mubashir hit 52 with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes and Arif made 13. Azmat Bashir bagged two wickets for 22 while Qutabuddin Qureshi, Salman Khan and M Ikram got one wicket each. Shifa International achieved the target in the 21st over for the loss of 5 wickets. Faisal Iqbal scored unbeaten 67 off 42 balls with 9 fours and two sixes while M Ikram contributed 22 and Naisr Mahmood 16. Mubashir clinched three wickets for 37. All-Pakistan Open Tennis begins today
LAHORE - The Nayza All-Pakistan Open Tennis Championship 2017 main round will commence here at the PLTA tennis courts today (Tuesday). PLTA secretary Rashid Malik, along with Rafum Group marketing manager Shahid Riaz, said said more than 200 players from across the country are participating in the event. He thanked Rafum group chairman Zahid Hussain for his generous support towards the game of tennis. “The events of the tournament are men’s singles and doubles, ladies singles, boys U-18, boys U-14, boys/girls U-10, seniors 45 plus doubles and seniors 60 plus doubles,” he added.–Staff Reporter
Registration date of chess event extended
LAHORE - All the preparation for the conduct of Annual Little Master Chess Tournament has been completed. The last date of entry in the event being organised by Laurel Bank Public School has been extended to November 17 on the demand of several schools and colleges, which intend o take part. The tournament will be held at Alhamra Town Campus on November 25 and will be contested in three categories – under-10, under-14 and open. Imran Mian, who is tournament organiser, said that a large number of students of different schools and colleges are taking part in the event, which carries total prize money of Rs 60,000.–Staff Reporter
Polo in Pink gets underway today
LAHORE - The Polo in Pink Tournament 2017 will get underway here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground today (Tuesday). The purpose of holding the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital-sponsored event is to create awareness about breast cancer among the masses. Lahore Polo Club president Irfan Ali Hyder has said that the teams are divided into two pools as pool A consists of Dewa’s Own, Sakuf, Terra Energy, Newage and Rijas while pool B comprises Remington Polo, Artema Medical/Black Horse Paints, Edezell and Guard Group. Air Commodore M Shoaib Khan, Senior Air Staff Officer, Central Air Command, Pakistan Air Force, was the chief guest at opening ceremony held at the Fortress Stadium Lahore. Six polo teams are participating in the seven-day long event which include Pakistan Rangers (Punjab), Pakistan Air Force, PAF (Blues), Zacky Farms, Stallions and Archers.
