SAHIWAL - Laptops were distributed to at least 5,686 students of Sahiwal division under Chief Minister’s Laptop Scheme during a ceremony held at Jinnah Hall on Wednesday.
The provincial ministers - Dr Mukhtar Ahmed Bherath and Malik Nadeem Kamran - distributed laptops to the students.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mukhtar said that the Punjab government has spared no effort to fulfil educational needs of the students. He urged the students to acquire higher education and serve Pakistan. He said that the government has ensured merit in appointment of officers at important positions in the government departments.
Earlier, Minahal Chaudhry and Hafsa Zahid, recipients of laptops in their speeches appreciated the chief minister’s laptop scheme, saying it will encourage students to get quality education. It will also strengthen their confidence to serve the country, they added.
A smart police contingent presented guard of honour to the students, recipients of laptops. A large number of students and their parents attended the ceremony.
MOONSHINER HELD
A moonshiner was nabbed with 60 litres of liquor here the other day. A-Division police were tipped-off about presence of the accused in Shamsia Colony. Police raided hideout of the accuse d and arrested him. The accused was identified as Nadeem.
Police also recovered 60 litres of liquor from him. Police registered a case against him and put him behind bars.
