ANF seizes over 1.37 tons of narcotics

Rawalpindi - The Anti-Narcotics Force carried out operations in various parts of country and held 16 smugglers including two women smugglers and recovered 1.376 ton of narcotics, a spokesperson said on Thursday.

According to the spokesman, the ANF also impounded six vehicles during the operations. The recovered drugs included hashish, 5.2 kilograms of heroin, 1.5 kilograms of opium and 963 grams of methamphetamine.

The ANF Quetta intercepted a truck on Mastung Road and recovered 1,300 kilograms of hashish concealed in improvised cavities of the vehicle. However, the persons on board managed to escape from the scene taking advantage of darkness. In another operation, the ANF Quetta while acting upon a tip-off seized a car parked in Satellite Town and recovered 52 kilograms of hashish concealed in secret cavities. As per initial reports, the drugs were intended to be handed over to another gang, the spokesman said. The ANF Rawalpindi intercepted a car in Gilgit and recovered three kilograms of hashish concealed in secret cavities of the car. A person on board identified as Nasrullah, resident of Gilgit, was arrested on the spot, the spokesman said.

In addition, the ANF Lahore recovered 750 grams of heroin from a UK-bound parcel sent by a courier company based at the Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore. The drug was concealed in gents’ upper coat.

In another operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a rickshaw near Shahdra Morr and recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish concealed in secret cavities. A person on board, identified as Shabaz Mushtaq, resident of Sheikhupura, was also apprehended during the operation. In third operation, the ANF Lahore recovered 2.4 kilograms of hashish and arrested two local drug peddlers identified as Rasheed Khan and Muhammad Shar, both resident of Muzaffargarh. In fourth operation, the ANF Lahore arrested two drug peddlers identified as Ashiq Hussain and Karamat Ullah, both residents of Layyah and recovered 2.4 kilograms of hashish from their possession, the spokesman said. In fifth operation, the ANF Lahore intercepted a car near Bahria Town and recovered 2.8 kilograms of heroin concealed in secret cavities of the car. Two persons on board identified as Asim Aslam, resident of Sialkot, and Abdul Haleem, resident of Kurram Agency, were arrested at the spot.

In sixth operation, the ANF Lahore recovered one kilograms of opium and 700 grams of heroin from possession of an accused identified as Umer Hayat, resident of Sheikhupura, who was arrested.

In seventh operation, the ANF Lahore seized 950 grams of heroin by intercepting a UK-bound parcel booked at a courier company office at Faisalabad.

The ANF Peshawar recovered five grams of heroin and 115 grams of hashish from possession of an accused indentified as Misbah Ullah, resident of Swabi, involved in supplying the drug to students of colleges and universities. He was arrested near a private academic institution, the spokesman said.

In another operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered five grams of heroin and 110 grams of hashish from possession of an accused identified as Sajjad Ahmed, resident of Peshawar, involved in supply of drugs to students of different colleges and universities in Peshawar.

In third operation, the ANF Peshawar apprehended an accused identified as Shafiq Ahmed, resident of Khyber Agency, and recovered 24 grams of heroin and 130 grams of hashish from him.

He was arrested, the spokesman said.

In fourth operation, the ANF Peshawar arrested a lady accused identified as Saima Bibi travelling in a passenger van and recovered 500 grams of opium and 4.8 kilograms of hashish from her. In the fifth operation, the ANF Peshawar intercepted a van and recovered 600 grams of hashish from possession of an accused identified as Taza Khan, resident of Peshawar.

In the sixth operation, the ANF Peshawar recovered 1.2 kilograms of hashish from possession of a lady accused identified as Bibi Ayesha.

The ANF Karachi arrested an accused identified as Khurshid Khan, resident of Swabi, and recovered 960 grams of methamphetamine concealed in his luggage.

All cases have been registered at the respective ANF police stations and further investigations are underway, the spokesman concluded.
