KARACHI - Referring the disqualification of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif by Supreme Court in Panama Papers case, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that dragging ‘God father of corruption’ in court was a historical episode. Khan expressed these views while addressing lawyers at Karachi Bar Association here on Thursday at Jinnah Auditorium.
“History is evident none of the powerful man was brought in the court of justice, Nawaz Sharif being aware of his power know that he would not be brought in courts of justice but PTI without any fear stood firm against the rule of corruption and doctorial system of Nawaz Sharif. Our movement is still in progress as party is moving with the agenda to bring supremacy of the judiciary in the country as it is the only way to put the country on path of progress and prosperity,” Khan held.
Terming the justice as a key tool of society, the PTI chairman said that country could not progress until existence of separate laws for rich and poor. Law should protect weak against powerful and rule of law is only way to continue the process of democracy in country, he added.
He further said that Nawaz Sharif raised the question ‘Why he was ousted’? was not to prove that he was innocent but it was a threat as how courts dare to question him. The ruling government propagated that democracy is in danger was actually narrating that their corruptions was in danger. We struggled for fifteen month over the case of Panama Papers and after decision brought change in the country, he added.
