KARACHI - The Sindh Home Department though a notification has restricted the movement of 200 Ulema including leaders of the JUI-F, imposing ban on entering other districts of the province for next two months. The religious scholars will neither leave their home districts during the Muharram nor can they hold any procession. The reason of banning the movement of Ulemas is to stop hatred speeches and sectarian differences in the province. The sectarian killings in the Karachi have been increased, which prompted the government to ban the Ulema from their movement and hatred speeches. According to the home department officials, the 200 Ulmas including JUI-F leader and former senator Maulana Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Maulana Khadim Hussain, Maulana Syed Ghulam Hussain, Allama Muhammad Ehsan, Maulana Zia-Ul-Haq Qasmi, Maulana Abdul Samd, Maulana Idrees Dahri and other Ulmea are included who have been banned from entering other districts.
The Ulema belong to different sects, who have been asked not to leave their home district during the Muharram. It may be noted that the federal as well as Sindh government has cautioned about any untoward situation during the Muharram.  Keeping sensitivity and law and order situation, the Sindh government has banned pillion riding in Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts during the holy month.
Besides, Section 144 has been imposed through which political and other procession are banned in the province.
ARRANGEMENTS OF MUHARRAM: A meeting was held at the Saddar Town here on Wednesday in connection with the arrangements for the month of Muharram.
A statement said that the Haq Parast members of Sindh Assembly-Tahir Qureshi, Muqeem Alam Advocate and Shoaib Ibrahim, speaking on the occasion stated that Islam is a religion of peace and fosters the message of unity, brotherhood and patience. They said that we should take a joint stand against militancy and terrorism. Matters pertaining to cleanliness, illumination and civic facilities were also discussed on the occasion.
Chief Officer Saddar Town, Asim Ali Khan, secretary Pak Husainia Organisation Pakistan, Ghulam Abbas Badami, Amanullah Qadri, Ulema from various schools of thought also attended the meeting.
The Haq Parast MPAs appealed that sectarian harmony be maintained and people of every segment of society should play their role towards the maintenance of peace and amity keeping in view the sanctity of Muharram.
Asim Ali Khan giving a briefing regarding the arrangements for the Muharram, said that the leaves of the staff of Saddar Town have been canceled. He said proper cleanliness would be maintained especially on the route of the main Muharram procession.
The encroachments of the path of the main Muharram procession, have been removed. An emergency control room has been established at the Town’s central office for addressing public complaints.
The areas concerned have been exempted from the loadshedding, it was further stated.
