Afghan terrorist ‘enters’ Punjab

LAHORE - Police security was heightened across the Punjab province following intelligence reports indicating that an Afghan suicide bomber had entered Pakistan to launch a terror attack.

Security official on Tuesday released a photo of the possible bomber, identified as Talha, who is said to be member of the Jamat-ul-Ahrar terror group.

The intelligence inputs further revealed that the resident of Khost province of Afghanistan entered into Pakistan through Kurram Agency a couple of days ago.

Security and law-enforcement agencies are directed to take extraordinary security measures to guard key government installations, police headquarters, and important buildings.

The security search was also intensified at all the entry and exit points of the city.

As part of the security strategy, the police and paramilitary troops are conducting security operations to hunt down suspected elements in all the big cities of the province.
