KARACHI - Mayor Waseem Akhtar said considerable amount was saved with the physical verification of the KMC vehicles and other machinery which would be utilised on other necessary works.
“Departments were being streamlined in KMC to stop unnecessary utilisation of municipal funds and resources.”
He was presiding over a meeting in Vehicle Department Office on Tuesday, attended by the parliamentary leader in city council Aslam Shah Afridi, chairman Land committee Syed Arshad Hassan, chairman parks committee Khurram Farhan, director vehicle Farid Tajik, director media management Ali Hassan Sajid, in-charge Web Section Daniyal and other officers.
The mayor said the amount spent on POL during financial year 2015-16 was Rs431,047,593 which reduced to Rs266,056,964 in 2016-17 and now even decreased after completion of the recent physical verification process.
He said full and thorough computerised record of the data pertaining to KMC vehicles and machinery was also prepared for instant reference whenever required.
He urged the officers to ensure correct and lawful use of KMC resources including vehicles and other machinery so that municipal resources could be used only for the betterment of the city.
