Islamabad - Inspector General of Police Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri on Friday inaugurated Police Inter-Division Cricket Tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP Islamabad said that sports activities are very much crucial for a healthy society which not only promotes environment of competition but also inculcate spirit to counter tough situation. DIG (Security) Waqar Ahmed Chohan, DIG (Operations) Mir Vais Niaz, SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani, AIG (Special Branch) Muhammad Ilyas, SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob, SSP (Security) Jameel Ahmed Hashmi, SSP (Headquarters) Muhammad Bin Ashraf, SP (City) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SP (Saddar) Aamir Niazi, SP (Traffic) Khalid Rasheed, SP (Special Branch) Ms. Irsala Saleem and media representatives were also present on the occasion.
The even started with a match between Logistic Division and Operation Division and the IGP congratulated SSP Muhammad Bin Ashraf, Sports Officer Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ayub Awan and Assistant Sports Officer ASI Muhammad Tahir for holding this event. The IGP said that sports activities are important for a healthy society and it promotes environment of competition and inculcate the spirit to counter tough situation. He said that policemen feel exhausted from long duties and such event will help entertain them and provide them opportunity to demonstrate their sports skills. He said that this event will remain highly successful and provide opportunity to policemen to keep themselves physically and mentally fit. He said that other sports activities like hockey, football, wrestling, squash would be also arranged at Police Line Headquarters.
Islamabad police on Friday conducted search operation in various areas of Kohsar and Nilore police stations and arrested nine suspects besides recovery of weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the officials of Islamabad Police, Pak Rangers and other security agencies conducted search operation in various areas of Kohsar and Nilore police stations. They screened 58 houses, checked 52 persons and arrested nine suspects besides recovering two SMGs along with 804 rounds, six 30-bore pistols, one 7-MM, three pump actions and one 8-MM gun along with ammunition.
