In his opening remarks, Dr Sher declared it a welcome step by the government to appoint the renowned scholar Dr Masoom Yasinzai as Rector IIUI. “It has put an end to illegal and ad hoc appointments at IIU, which has since long been tarnishing the very image of university under Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik,” he added.
While shedding light on irregularities in the past three years, he hoped that the new appointment of VC of Quaid-e-Azam University as Rector IIUI would bring the University back on its track, and would help achieve the basic objectives for which the institution was created.
Dr Zafar Iqbal, General Secretary, said the IIUI has been passing through a difficult phase, turmoil and upheavals since the last five years and deliberately efforts were put in place to malign the entire culture of the University by compromising on the basic objectives and ideology of the institution.
He further said that outgoing Rector Prof Fateh Muhammad Malik and Dr Anwar Hussain Siddiqui have tremendously contributed in this regard. According to him, never in the history of IIUI such a huge number of cases were registered against the irregularities made.
