Mayor for rehabilitating Asphalt Plant

KARACHI - Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar has said that building roads and flyovers is his top priority.

“Officials of Electrical & Mechanical Department should give importance to the suggestions of elected representatives in all uplift and maintenance works,” he said, and added, “Measures should be taken for the rehabilitation of KMC Asphalt Plant.” He was presiding over a meeting of the Electrical & Mechanical Department here on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by the city council committee on E&M Chairman Khaliduddin and other members besides Parliamentary Leader in the City Council Aslam Shah Afridi, Lands Committee Chairman Arshad Hassan and Director General Works Shahab Anwar. According to progress report submitted at the meeting , lighting arrangements had been made on Shara-e-Pakistan, Haji Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road, Hassan Square Flyover, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Mai Kolachi Road, Sharae Faisal and gate of the Mandir at MA Jinnah Road on the directives of the mayor.

Waseem stressed the need for adopting complete and proper monitoring system in the electrical and mechanical department which could ensure prompt action on any complaint received. He also directed the director general works to conduct survey of the site of Asphalt Plant in Mehmoodabad and gave estimates of the expenditures that would be incurred on its rehabilitation.

Azerbaijan envoy calls on Mayor

Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Pakistan Ali Alizada, along with a high-level delegation, consisting of Deputy Chief of Mission and CEO of Karachi Council of Foreign Relations Ahsan Mukhtar Zubairi called on Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar at his office on Wednesday.

Director technical SM Shukaib was also present on the occasion. The mayor welcomed the Azerbaijan ambassador and his delegation on their visit to KMC head office and expressed the hope that this would further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
