LAHORE - The Ombudsmen of Pakistan got together in lslamabad on Friday to bid farewell to the outgoing Wafaqi Mohtasib Javed Sadiq Malik, and Justice Syed Ali Aslam Jafri, former Insurance Ombudsman, says a press release. Being leading lights of public service with illustrious life long careers to their credit, their contribution to Ombudsmanship in Pakistan for providing the aggrieved public speedy and inexpensive access to justice was profoundly appreciated. Availing the opportunity, the Ombudsmen of Pakistan discussed at length the need for establishing a forum, on the analogy of Asian Ombudsman Association, International Ombudsman Association, US Ombudsman Association and European Ombudsman Association, with the objective to improve coordination among the ten presently existing Ombudsmen of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir for capacity building and better quality service delivery. It was strongly felt that ensuring effective accountability of public functionaries against maladministration was a sine qua non for promoting good governance in Pakistan. After considering the proposal in detail it was unanimously decided to establish a Forum of Pakistan Ombudsmen (FPO)
