Power shortfall goes up to 4,500 MW

The power shortfall in the country has surged to 4,500 megawatt, leading to an increased loadshedding up to 14 hours in Punjab and other parts of the country, report said. The power crisis forced the Pakistan Electric Supply Company (PEPCO) to carry out eight to ten hour power cut in urban Punjab and up to 14 hour in rural areas of the province. In Karachi, massive loadshedding prompted people to stage protest demonstrations in few areas against unabated power cut.
