DBA Rawalpindi election schedule issued
RAWALPINDI: Schedule of election to the various offices of the District Bar Association, Rawalpindi has been issued.
Under the schedule, polling will start at 8 am and continue till 4 pm on Januuary 13. Election board chairman Zahir Qadri said that nomination papers would be received on December 21; objections would be heard on December 23 and scrutiny of papers would be conducted on December 26.
The interim list would be displayed on December 27 and nomination papers could be withdrawn on December 28, he added.
The final list would be displayed on December 29. Projection meeting to present manifesto would take place on January 11, he said.–Online
Rs150m released for uplift works in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: Funds amounting to Rs150 million have been released for construction and repair of basic health centres and schools in district Rawalpindi.
According to reports, the boundary walls, roofs and washrooms of schools and BHCs in seven tehsils of the district, including Rawalpindi, Kotli Sattian, Kallar Syedan, Gujar Khan, Murree, Kahuta, Taxila and Gujjar Khan will be built and repaired out of this fund. The schemes will be completed in two months.–Online
Youm-e-Shuhada-e-APS observed
RAWALPINDI: Youm-e-Shuhada-e-Army Public School was observed on Saturday with a pledge to root out terrorism from every nook and corner of the country.
Prayers, lighting up of lamps, candles and wreath-laying ceremony was held at Ayub National Park to honour those who lost their lives in the cowardice attack.
On the occasion, Director General Army Heritage Foundation Brigadier (R) Zaman Nasrullah Khan Niazi said, “We honour and recognise the great sacrifices of Shuhada and the wounded, especially in APS incident, on this day and are determined not to allow such things happening again”.
He said that the APS tragedy held on December 16, 2014 united the nation and fixed future course for Pakistan.–APP
DC directs completing uplift schemes by 31st
RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal directed all government departments to complete the ongoing development schemes by December 31.
The DC while chairing a meeting to review the ongoing schemes on Saturday said that no delay would be tolerated in approved schemes as required funds had already been transferred. Gondal said, “We are determined to provide better health, medical and education facilities for which various schemes have been initiated, which on completion will benefit the people and help in improving their living standard”.
Deputy Director Development Saima Ghafoor shared that a total of 269 schemes were underway in NA 52 and 53.
worth over Rs1,141 million had been approved in NA-52 and NA 53 for 2016-17.
Around 50 per cent of the schemes have been completed and work on the remaining schemes is under progress, she added.
Director Development and Finance Noureen Basheer, CEO Education Authority Qazi Zahoor Ul Haq and heads of concerned departments were also present in the meeting.–APP
