ISLAMABAD -  Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan chief Farooq Sattar seems to embark on a mission to woo back his disgruntled members by addressing their reservations in order to secure party position for the general election 2018.

Sattar, currently facing disintegration in the party, has decided to address reservations of his party lawmakers at the maximum level, sources said.

The party chief will personally visit his annoyed party members from tomorrow (Sunday) to show his affection with them, MQM-P sources told The Nation.

Sattar, who was already fighting on two fronts — the MQM-London and the Pak Sarzamin Party — had faced a clear anger from some old members after a brief contact with PSP chief Mustafa Kamal. In a fit of pique, some members even tendered resignations from the party and membership of the parliament.

Political pundits say that the MQM-P after disintegration in the party in the shape of MQM-P and MQM-London is not in a position to afford further defection. “Keeping in mind the 2018 elections, the MQM-P chief will make all-out efforts not to lose his winning candidates,” the sources said.

Mustafa Kamal’s return to Pakistan has caused a serious dilemma for the party as around eight lawmakers including MNAs have changed loyalties and joined the PSP.

Talking to The Nation, an annoyed member of the party said that Sattar was trying hard to convince them. “Most of our resignations submitted to the assemblies have not yet been accepted,” he said mentioning that the party chief has time and again given assurance to address their reservations.

Meanwhile, the sources said that a reference filed against 11 former party members in the Election Commission of Pakistan to de-seat them was put up to calm down the disgruntled members.

The reference was filed against national and provincial lawmakers; Asif Hasnain, Salman Mujahid Baloch, Irum Azeem Farooqi, Sheikh Abdullah, Khalid bin Wilayat, Abdul Razzaq, Irtaza Khalil, Nadeem Raazi, Arif Maseeh, Bilquis Mukhtiyar.

In the reference, the MQM-P had demanded the ECP to de-notify these lawmakers as they continue to appear before respective legislative assemblies even after switching their loyalties to other parties.

Interestingly, the MQM-P had also faced this demand from MQM-London to leave assemblies as all the lawmakers have switched loyalties. However, the MQM-P chief and his party members have turned a deaf ear on all audio and video messages of party founder Altaf Hussain.
