KARACHI - The central procession of Chehlum-e-Imam Hussain (AS) was taken out on Monday from Nishtar Park to Imam Bargah, Husainian Iranian, Kharadar, to commemorate the great sacrifice of the grandson of Holy Prophet (PBUH). The procession passed through traditional routes and peacefully concluded at Imam Bargah, Husainian Iranian, Kharadar under the tight security umbrella. The central Majlis was held at Nishtar Park before the procession of Chehlum-e-Imam Hussain (AS). Addressing the mourners, noted scholar Maulana Syed Taqi Shah Naqvi said that Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions sacrificed their lives for the supremacy of Islam. He said that it was the responsibility of all the Muslims and the followers of Imam Hussain (AS) to stand against the evil forces. He said that Hizbullah, Hamas and Jehad-e-Islami of Palestine were the real representative of the Ummah and warned the Muslims rulers against bowing to dictation from US and Israel against the sentiments of their people. After the central Majlis, the main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park that concluded at the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah after passing through Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil Shah-i-Khurasan and M A Jinnah Road, where the mourners offered Zohrain prayers led by Maulana Salman Shah Naqvi. Later, the mourners staged protest demonstration against the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians at the hands of the Zionist regime. Addressing the protesters, ISO leader Raza Haider urged the government to immediately abandon kowtowing the US policies aimed at destabilising Pakistan. He underlined the need of unity among the people of the country to foil conspiracy of the evil forces. He applauded the Hamas victory in the Zionist onslaught of the Gaza Strip. On the occasion, the mourners torched the American and Israeli flags and chanted slogans against these imperialist powers. The city police had made tight security arrangements on this occasion to protect the route of the procession. Various organisations, including ISO, MQM, PPP, Jafaria Alliance and others had established medical camps and water stalls (Sabeel) on the route of the procession. Moreover, the Jafaria Alliance Pakistan, Imamia Students Organisation, Scouts Rabita Council, Shia Ulema Council and Imamia Scouts also deployed more than 4,000 volunteers to ensure security. The streets and alleys joining the routes of the central procession had been to thwart any untoward incident. The Jamshed Town administration had arranged water supply through tankers while sharbat and langar was also distributed. On the directive of Health Minister alert was ordered in hospitals while ambulances of various organisations were on duty. The personnel of City Government's Municipal Services department, who were present in the relief camp, remained connected with the Command Control Centre. In order to ensure effective security arrangements, Jamshed Town had established command and control centre at Nishtar park from where all activities were monitored. with the help of 21 cameras. In addition secret cameras had also been installed by City District Government for monitoring of activities at Command and Control Centre at Civic centre.
