LAHORE - The three-day annual Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh concluded on Monday after nightlong celebrations of various events, which included mehfil-e-smaah, a major event of the Urs . Hundreds of qawwals performed since Sunday morning. Punjab Minister for Auqaf Haji Ihsanuddin Qureshi was guest of honour at the two special sessions of mehfil-e-smaah on Sunday and Monday. Secretary Auqaf Khyzer Hayat Gondal, Director General Religious Affairs Auqaf and Dr Tahir Raza Bokhari accompanied the minister. The qawwali was rounded off with special prayers for the solidarity and integrity of the country and the nation, little before Fajr prayers. As a last ritual, 'chaddar' and floral wreath were laid at the shrine in a procession along with the qawwals. Ch Zulfiquar Ali, ex MNA, led the procession. In the darbar Jamia mosque, four tableeghi sessions were held in which eminent ulema threw light on the life and works of Syeduna Ali bin Usman Hajveri (RA). A mehfil-e-Qirat and na'at reciting session was also held. The last day rituals were at peak and the devotees set up camps at Mela Ram Park which fetched a large number of people. The mystics danced at the tune of drums for hours and recited 'Kafis' and mystic poetry of sufi saints. Besides the main 'samah' hall of darbar complex, qawwali mehfils were held at Mela Ram Park, Pilot Hotel, Tibba Baba Farid near Kutchery, Darbar Road and Bilal Ganj areas. Milk sabeels and stalls of eatables and lunger were also set up at a number of places to serve the devotees by the philanthropists. The largest congregation was witnessed at the concluding session at darbar mosque. The people were stretched from the main hall of the mosque upto Bhatti Chowk and adjoining lanes to participate in the last prayers. Maulana Awaisi offered prayers for the solidarity of the country and progress of the nation. The Urs participants were served 'lungar' at the end of the ceremony and 'khatam'.
