KASUR - PML-Q Central leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi Monday said that his party would defend the local governments (LG)s at any cost. Addressing a public meeting organised by PML-Q here, Ch said during his tenure of government free of cost books were provided to the students of educational institutions in Punjab with a stipend of Rs200 each. He said credit goes to PML-Q that it had launched emergency service 1122, provided free medicines to emergency wards of the hospitals besides controlling crimes and establishing patrolling posts in Punjab . He criticised the PML-N Punjab government for victimising PML-Q leaders and workers. He said, "We will not be blackmailed by Punjab rulers and continue to raise voice for justice and democracy in the country." He further said farmers are completely destitute because their cash crops, like and potatoes are devaluating due to the irrational policies of the government. He said the blackmarketing of the fertilizer is on its peak and the farmers are wandering for fertilizer, doctors are being beaten up and the honour of a common man is on stake. He asked the present government to tell what development work and mega project they have given to the country in the tenure of one year. He said the PML-Q government had abolished the agriculture tax up to the land of 25 acres for the benefit of the small farmers. He asked the nazims and workers to ensure the massive participation in the countrywide local body convention to be held on March 7 in Lahore. Former foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said the country is besetting in danger and drone attacks are endangering the solidarity of the country. Prominent among the participants were former minister of state Sardar Asif Nakai, former district nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmed Khan, Sardar Tufail Ahmed Khan, District naib nazim Haji Maqsood Ahmed Ansari.
