LAHORE - Nation Assembly Opposition Leader Syed Khursheed Shah Wednesday said politicians should not fear popularity of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif.
Addressing national conference in connection with Operation Zarb-e-Azb under the auspices of Pakistan Citizen Movement, Khursheed said, “The entire nation is with General Raheel Sharif and the politicians should not fear the hiking popularity of the Army Chief.”
He said that it was the Parliament which empowered the military courts for terrorism cases. “Nawaz Sharif is not visionary man. He cannot deal with crisis,” said Shah.
Jamat ud Dawa chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed advised politicians to bring back the plundered money from abroad to save themselves and democracy.
Former Punjab governor, Ghulam Mustafa Khar on this occasion said, “There are no more ideological activists left in the political arena and the people who are claiming to be politicians can be called looters and plunderers.”
Jamiat Ulema Islam leader, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed appealed to the Army Chief to cleanse the country of criminals and corruption.
Veteran politician Abdul Hayee Baloch has said the entire nation is behind the army and the political leadership’s to root out the menace of terrorism from the country.
Pakistan Citizen Movement chief, Hafiz Ghulam Mohiyuddin presented several resolutions of which one demanded that Operation Zarb-e-Azb should continue till complete clearing.
Another resolution demanded an effective legislation should be made to deal with sectarianism. Yet another resolution demanded support to Kashmiri brethren till the independence of Held Kashmir from India. A resolution praised the great services of the military officers and soldiers for rendering sacrifices during the war against terror under Zarb-e-Azb banner.
Former foreign minister, Sardar Asif Ahmed Ali, PPP leader Samina Khalid Ghurki, PPP (Workers) leader Naheed Khan and Jamat ud Dawa leader Ameer Hamza, were also present on the occasion.
