Indian prisoner rearrested after 10 months

KARACHI  -  An Indian prisoner was rearrested by the police who was managed to escape from Landhi Jail in February 2013.
According to the police, the Indian prisoner namely Kishore Bhagwan Bahi, who escaped from the District Jail Malir, was re-arrested from PIB Colony in Karachi.
He was among the 54 Indian fishermen, who had been arrested by the Maritime Security Agency for illegally fishing after straying into Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone. Later, he was brought to the jail on January 29. Three policemen were also suspended after his escape from the jail. The PIB Police handed him over to the Shah Latif Police.
DSP Nasir Lodhi said the accused during initial course of interrogation revealed he was a drug addict and managed to escape from the jail by climbing the walls during cleaning work in the jail. As he was a drug addict and due to unavailability of the drugs, he escaped from the jail. “We had no idea who he actually is when we intercepted him during routine patrolling. When Kishore escaped from the prison, he used to live on the roads and spend time in search of drugs. A separate case for fleeing from the prison has also been registered against him at the Shah Latif police station,” he added.
Meanwhile, one dozen suspects were apprehended during ongoing targeted raids in the metropolis by the police and the rangers on Tuesday.
Five suspected members of the militant outfit were apprehended during separate raids by the Steel Town Police. In the first raid, one suspected member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, who was later identified as Islam Wali, was injured and arrested after an exchange of fire with the police in Gulshan-e-Hadeed area. In another raid, Steel Police have detained four more suspected members of the outlawed TTP during a raid in Wali Town area. The suspects were identified as Naqeeb Zada, Zakirullah, Hameedullah and Imran Shaikh.
Jamshed Quarters Police claimed to have arrested a suspect after an encounter in Patel Para area. Police officials said the arrested suspect along with his two companions were busy looting the passersby when a police mobile on routine patrolling reached the site and managed to arrest one of the suspects Abdul Majeed Pathan after an exchange of fire.
At least five alleged gangsters were apprehended during police operation in Lyari. Their identifications were not disclosed and they were shifted to undisclosed location for further questioning. Weapons were also recovered from their possession. In another raid, a political worker was taken into custody during a rangers’ raid in Malir locality. He was accused of targeted killings. He was shifted to some undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, rangers conducted a targeted raid in Golimar area and arrested a hardened criminal affiliated with Jamil Changa Group. Weapons were also recovered from his possession.
