SHIKARPUR - The Chartered Inspection & Evaluation Committee of Sindh Higher Education Commission, Karachi visited Shikarpur Campus of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur regarding its up-gradation on Friday.
The committee was headed by its Chairman Prof Dr Abdul Qadeer, Prof Dr Muhammad Aslam Uqaili, Prof Dr Mujeeb-ud-Din Sehrai and Prof Aziz Fatima.
Prof Dr Abdul Qadeer said that Shikarpur remained hub of business activities. Despite this the cultural heritage of Shikarpur was also famous worldwide. By the up-gradation of this campus, it will be the source of the revival of educational glory at Shikarpur adding as per provision of the charted; there are 13 parameters for the establishment of University.
Also, the recommendations of the team will be placed in the next meeting of Sindh Higher Education Commission, Sindh Cabinet and Provincial Assembly for the up-gradation of Shikarpur Campus as full-fledged university. Dr Qadeer appreciated the continuing efforts of Prof Dr Parveen Shah for the promotion of education, research, development and innovation.
Prof Dr Parveen Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur cordially welcomed the inspection committee. Prof Dr Parveen Shah said that despite severe financial crunch, we are committed to provide the quality education at main campus as well as Shikarpur Campus and others campuses.
Dr Parveen Shah commended the efforts of Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, MPA on account of his moral support to the up-gradation of this campus as full-fledged university and vice chancellor also lauded the efforts of Syed Murad Ali Shah, Chief Minister Sindh for the cause of education. Prof Dr Lutfullah Mangi, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Shikarpur Campus briefed the committee about the available physical infrastructure, other allied facilities at the campus further said that 53 Acres of land has been purchased for the purpose of the establishment of campus. During the Annual Development Program 2015-16, Rs 25 million has been earmarked by the Sindh government for purchase of land while during the year 2016-17 in the ADP Rs 137.8 million proposals has been submitted.
MPA Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh directed the Shikarpur campus administration that a separate PC-I for university up-gradation may be submitted during his visit he announced Rs 1 million for the purchase of books and to donate the 50 new computers for the campus. He also suggested that proposal of special grant of Rs 200 million may be prepared and submitted for the recurring expenditure of the campus.
During the visit, Prof Dr Taj Muhammad Lashari, Media Coordinator, Mir Muhammad Mahar, Assistant Registrar, Syed Muneer Shah Rashidi, IT Manager, Taj Muhammad Tebani, Librarian and others were present on this occasion.
