Rawalpindi - Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Chaudhry Yusaf Ali Shahid on Friday directed traffic police to ensure smooth traffic flow in the city during the mourning procession on Peshawar Road.

He said that a total of 3 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 8 Inspector In-charges, 127 wardens and 11 junior traffic wardens will be on duty to deal with the traffic mess and to facilitate the mourners and commuters. CTO said that traffic police has finalised a comprehensive traffic plan to avoid congestions according to which both sides of Peshawar Road, Misrial Road and Hali Road would remain closed for vehicular movement.

No traffic movement would be allowed from Chairing Cross to Chuhur Chowk after start of mourning procession at 7am.

The road users and other citizens who want to commute to Saddar would be diverted from start of flyover and Meharabad towards IJP Road, Dhoke Hassu Road, Bakery Chowk and Transit Camp.  A diversion would also be placed at Qasim Market by traffic police from where the traffic would be diverted Transit Camp, Bakery Chowk and Dhoke Hassu, CTO added. He said that commuters could reach Golra Mor via Qasim Market, Range Road, Shalley Valley, Misrial Road and Bhatta Chowk.
