HUJRA SHAH MUQEEM-A female master’s student was crushed to death by a fast-moving train on her way back home from University of Education GT Road here Friday evening.
According to police and rescue sources, Nabiha Mukhtar, a student of MA English evening batch, left university her home in Chak 14/1AL after attending class.
As she was crossing railway track in front of the university, fast-moving train ran her over. She died on the spot while the train moved ahead.
The social circles and civil society have expressed grief and sorrows over the incident and held absence of a crossing on the track responsible for the incident.
They were of the view that the University of Education is situated between Lower-Bari-Doaba Canal and railway track but there is no proper link to connect the university with GT Road.
They demanded the government to immediately establish a link road to connect the university campus with GT Road to avert any such accident in the future.
