Sherpao renames PPP-S as Qaumi Watan Party


PESHAWAR - NADER BUNERI - Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, now will lead Qaumi Watan Party as he replaced the former with its flag and manifesto here on Wednesday.
“We have unanimously decided to change the party name as Qaumi Watan Party and change its flag by replacing the green color with white one” He announced this while Addressing Party convention at his residence in Hayatabad Peshawar on Wednesday. Member of Provincial Assembly and former Provincial President of PPP-S Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, sitting MPAs, and a large number of party workers were present on the occasion.
Sherpao said that today the Pakhtun nation is confronted with numerous challenges in shape of terrorism and lawlessness while through a well-hatched conspiracy they have been pushed towards darkness and backwardness; however, he said that his party would foil such conspiracies against Pakhtuns.
He said that for development and prosperity of the country, peace is playing an important role and for this purpose they would strive hard to restore peace in this region.
He also said that main mission of Qaumi Watan Party is the restoration of peace and resolving the problems being faced by Pakhtuns of this region. He added that he would work along with his party workers to carry on this mission and contribute some serious and practical steps for the development of his country.
He said that Qaumi Watan Party would also focus the rehabilitation and reconstruction work in the war-hit FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where a large number of people deprived of their house as well educational infrastructures. Regarding his party flag, he said that this flag will replace the green colour with white colour which is a symbol of peace. He said that as the election is getting nearer that is why all party workers should work hard to pass on the message of Qaumi Watan Party to each house of the country.
He maintained that his peace slogan will not be only for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but it would also encompass the entire region including Afghanistan.
Earlier to this several alternate names for the party were under consideration, but new comers in the party ranks were urging him to emerge as a nationalist politician and that the new party should reflect his stance in a nationalist capacity.
In the wake of his anti-ANP stance, Aftab Sherpao attracted many disgruntled nationalists and progressive elements in the last one-and-a-half years and is surrounded by a number of nationalist leaders from Balochistan as well as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
