Islamabad- National security adviser, Sartaj Aziz , is due to visit Afghanistan on Sunday to meet with the Afghan officials for talks on bilateral and regional issues.
Aziz will be visiting Afghanistan as special envoy of Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, according to an official statement.
The statement further added that Aziz will convey the Prime Minister’s formal invitation to President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai to visit Pakistan. This will be the first formal visit of a senior Pakistani official to Afghanistan following the formation of the new Afghan government. According to the statement, Aziz will also hold talks with Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the national secuirty adviser to President Ghani. The statement also added that the visit by Aziz to Afghanistan is part of Pakistan’s substantive engagement with the new Afghan leadership.
