Probe into Kamalia violence case continues

TOBA TEK SINGH - Additional Member Inspection Team, Lahore High Court, Yousaf Aujla with powers as Kamalia judicial inquiry tribunal registrar, continued on the third consecutive day recording testimonies of witnesses regarding Kamalia violence.
A 14-year-old boy had killed and more than 80 others had been injured when security guards of MNA Riaz Fatyana opened fire on the mob on June 19 during a protest against electricity loadshedding.
Mr Aujla also visited the burnt portion of house of MNA Fatyana, Iqbal Bazaar and other places where public property was set on fire by the protesters.
During the last two days, a total of 401 witnesses got their testimonies recorded. The witnesses filed their affidavits along with statements before the registrar.
LHC Chief Justice Umer Ata Bandial appointed Mr Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi of Lahore High Court for judicial probe into the incident on the request of Punjab government and Muhammad Yousaf Aujla was deputed as registrar of judicial inquiry tribunal.
