Coffee is one of the best drinks in the world. It is prepared from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of berries from the Coffea plant. Coffee plants are now cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in the equatorial regions of the America, South East Asia and Africa.

Discovery Tales

There are two stories that are popular regarding the discovery of the coffee.
First one said that the coffee plants were discovered in the region of Kaffa, Ethiopia by a person named Kaldi. Kaldi was grazing his goats. He realized that his goats were actually enjoying some sort of beans. These beans later turned out to be coffee beans from the coffee plant.
The second story attributes the discovery of coffee to Sheikh Omar. It is said that Omar was traveling from Mocha in Yemen to a desert cave near Ousab. He felt starving in the way and tried to fulfill his appetite with berries from some nearby shrubbery. He found those seeds to be bitter so he tried to roast them in order to improve the flavor, but the seeds became hard. He then boiled them up in order to soft them but the beans started turning liquid brown. He drank the liquid and thus the coffee was first time discovered.
From Ethiopia, the coffee plant was introduced into the Arab World through Egypt and Yemen. The method that is used these days to make coffee was introduced in Arabia. They were the one who roasted and brewed the seeds, in a similar way to how it is now prepared. From the Middle East, coffee spread to Italy and later to Venice and then to the whole Europe. Because it was a famous Muslim drink, the Pope Clement VIII also appealed to ban it but that did not affect its popularity and coffee became popular day by day.

Coffee these days is available in lots of flavors such as coconut caramel crunch, honey vanilla and chocolate truffle etc.

Enjoy your perfect cup of coffee.
