Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said that the approval of GSP plus status for Pakistan by European Union is a great success of the incumbent PML-N government and expresses his hope that it will open up new vistas of industrial development and employment opportunities.
Punjab Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar stated while addressing members of Pirmahal Tehsil Bar Association at the inauguration of Tehsil courts here on Saturday.
Ch Sarwar pointed out that GSP Plus status would boost textile industry and its exports considerably and would help create new jobs for the unemployed youth in the country. He was of the view that special attention should be focused on education and health sectors, adding that there were at least 7 million children who were still out of schools while majority of schools in Punjab had no facility of clean drinking water. The government has been striving hard and utilising all-out resources to lift standards of education and ensure all missing facilities.
The Punjab government is working on war-footings to for the development of education and health sectors and no effort will be spare in this regard," he pledged.
Ch Sarwar also praised the Lahore High Court chief justice for issuing notification of the status of tehsil courts in newly declared tehsil Pirmahal. The Punjab governor urged the lawyers to invest their energies in the dispensation of justice to the citizens at their doorsteps.
On the occasion, the Punjab governor announced Rs500,000 cash grant for the Pirmahal Bar Association from his own pocket. Punjab Bar Council member Rana Muhammad Akram, Pirmahal Bar President Rana Hafeez Manj, former District bar Association president Rana Anwar, Additional District and Sessions Judge Zahid Mukhtar and Judicial Magistrate Rana Farooq Wakeel were also present in the ceremony.
