Seminar stresses census for health planning

LAHORE - The rapidly-increasing population has made it difficult to provide quality health facilities to all citizens of the country having limited resources.
Addressing a seminar on Health Issues after 18th Amendment arranged by Citizen Commission for Human Development at a local hotel on Sunday, speakers stressed the government to announce National Population Policy and carryout census for getting reliable data for effective planning for health sector.
Ex-MNA Mehnaz Rafi, MPA Naushin Hamid, MPA Dr Alia Aftab, Mian Saifur Rehman, Brig (retd) Farooq Hameed Khan, Iftkhar Bukhari and Anwar Hussain addressed the seminar.
Speakers were of the view that a number of good developments were being witnessed in health sector after 18th amendment. “Provinces have received more funds for health sector and now it was necessary to ensure effective and justified use of this health budget,” they stated.
They said that decentralisation of health departments was necessary for providing essential facilities to the people of remote areas. “Health funds should also be used for prevention from various diseases,” they added.
