OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE City Traffic Police have finalised arrangements for a massive crackdown against illegal number plates and motorcyclists doing wheelie on Citys arteries during weekends. In this regard, about 99 special teams have been constituted with three teams in each traffic sector. A Traffic Police spokesman Ali Nawaz said on Saturday that following directions by Chief Traffic Office (CTO) SSP Syed Ahmed Mobeen, both the divisional SPs and circle in-charges would supervise the campaign in their areas against vehicles using non-prescribed number plates, plying without number plates and motor bikes doing a wheelie in various nook and corners of the City. Special traffic squads have been constituted for the crackdown against the wheelies on the Ring Road (I, II, III) interchanges while emergency squads on The Mall, Jail Road, Main Boulevard, Canal Road, Shalimar Link Road, Ferozepur Road and Township took action against wheelers. Ahmed Mobeen Zaidi directed wardens to continue the crackdown on violators of traffic laws and also keep on educating citizens about the risks of indulging in motor cycling stunts. He directed the DSP Licensing Syed Ali Iftikhar Jaafri and Education Inspector Saad Azeem to conduct lectures for the people applying for traffic licences. The CTO stressed upon the citizen to cooperate with the traffic police to make the journey safer for themselves and others.
