ISLAMABAD - Young Mekyle Ali Qadir won the inaugural Under-10 Tennis Cup title after beating opponent in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 at the Islamabad Tennis Complex here on Saturday. Mekyle started playing tennis six months back under the coaching of Usman, Safeer and Shahid at the Complex. In a short time, he learned a lot about tennis and surprised his coaches by beating his far better opponent in the U-10 singles final. Talking to TheNation, Mekyle said: "I am highly impressed with Nadal and has been following him for the last five years. He is my idol and I want to be a true champion like him and bring fame to my country." Mekyle is also a bright student of class 6 at a local school and his teachers speak highly about him and hope he will excel on both fronts - game and studies. The specially arranged Under-10 Cup attracted many kids and after coming through tough contests Mekyle reached the final and in a relatively easy match he outclassed his far senior opponent. Speaking to this correspondent, Usman, the coach of Meykle said: 'This kid has got great future and if he continues to train harder and keep focused on his game the day is not far when he will bring laurels to the country', he concluded.
