In occupied Kashmir, the authorities placed veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani under house arrest in Srinagar to prevent him from participating in a function to be held in Islamabad town on the 17th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri intellectual, Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmed. According to KMS, spokesman of Gilanis forum, Ayaz Akbar told media men in Srinagar that large contingents of Indian police cordoned off the residence of the veteran leader asking him not to move out. Meanwhile, senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, in a statement in Srinagar while paying glowing tributes to Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmad said that sacrifices of the Kashmiri martyrs would always be remembered. Pertinently, the religious scholar, Qazi Yasir, who is also the elder son of Dr Qazi Nisar is under illegal detention since last one year. He is presently lodged at Srinagar Central Jail after being booked under the black law, Public Safety Act. Qazi Yasir was arrested for his affiliation with the liberation movement.
