LAHORE - A meeting presided by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday decided to set up an autonomous company for speedy implementation of Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park project.
The chief minister said that Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park project was of vital importance for promotion of textile sector. He directed that work on the project be carried out speedily and warned that no laxity will be tolerated. He said that establishment of Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park over 1500 acres of land near Motorway will accelerate economic activities in the province.
He said that thousands of job opportunities will be created while annual revenue of billions of rupees will be generated with establishment of the apparel park . He said that Chinese group besides extending technical cooperation will also transfer technology which will strengthen textile sector.
The CM said that Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park will be helpful in benefiting from GSP Plus status. He said that a prominent Chinese company Shendong Ruyi Group was making investment in Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park and the group will also extend technical assistance in the execution of the project. Secretary Industries while giving a briefing informed that the process of acquiring land for Quaid-e-Azam Apparel Park has been completed.
Provincial Minister for Industry Ch Muhammad Shafiq and concerned authorities were present in the meeting.
