ISLAMABAD - Terming PPP and PML-N two sides of a same coin, which could not expose each other’s corruption, Ameer Jamaat-I-Islam Sirajul Haq said that they would rid the country from this rotten system of governance and introduce a true Islamic democratic order in the country.
Addressing a public gathering here in Islamabad in his maiden address to the party workers and supporters after assuming the office of JI Ameer, Sirajul Haq said that they wanted to transform Pakistan into a strong Islamic democratic country in the world where the rights of people would be fully protected and secured. Terming Islam as panacea to all the problems facing the country, Sirajul Haq said that if given the chance they would transform country into a true Islamic democratic state as envisioned by the Father of the Nation Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Coming down hard on rulers for fragmenting the society into various groups, he said that a small ruling elite was having control over 95 per cent resources of the country and have enslaved the whole nation to their wishes and whims.
Criticising both PPP and ruling PML-N for having hands in a glove, he said that both these parties could not expose each other’s corruption as both parties were involved in corruption ,adding, that a brave and genuine leadership could only steer the country out of the prevailing crisis. He urged the nation to come forward and play its role in this connection.
Coming down hard on PPP leadership, he said that how the party which had appointed a boy as its Chairman could handle the monstrous challenges facing the country.
He was also critical of the performance of Mian Nawaz Sharif and said that in his view he had not learnt any lesson from his exile in Saudi Arabia and was following the same beaten track and making the same mistakes, which had led to his ouster in 1999. He claimed that according to an estimate corruption of around 1800 billion has been going on per day and said that a strong and independent mechanism would be required to purge the government of this massive corruption for which the nation would have to play its role in bringing strong and clean leadership at the helms of affairs. He said that the rulers should have supported the Kashmiris fighting for their right of self-determination instead of doing trade with India and made it loud and clear that people of Pakistan would not let the rulers turn their back to the Kashmiris, who actually are fighting for the survival of Pakistan. Terming the last general elections full of rigging, Sirajul Haq demanded a powerful Election Commission in place with its Chairman to be elected in consultation with all political parties so that the chapter of rigging could be closed once and for all. On the election of an extremist Hindu leader as Prime Minister of India, JI Ameer asked the would-be Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give assurance on minorities rights and protection to their holy places to bring an end to their concerns in this regard.
