Islamabad - One Abid Ali Qureshi (70) on Monday committed suicide after shooting himself, apparently due to financial hardships.
According to details, the wife of the victim, Shagufta Mubeen stated before police after her husband committed suicide that he had been under financial pressure for some time. Qureshi used to run an electronics shop at Chandni Chowk Rawalpindi but faced losses due to the ongoing construction work of metro bus project, Industrial Area police quoted Shagufta as having told them as they reached the crime scene in sector I-8/4 of Islamabad. According to the investigation officer Raza Mohammad, Qureshi shot himself while lying in his bed. Police have recovered the licensed 30-bore pistol from the crime scene also, he added. Police have termed it a suicide and are likely to close the file under section 174 of the PPC.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police have arrested seven outlaws from various areas of the city, besides recovering stolen bike, snatched cash, wine and stolen property from their possession, a police spokesman said. According to details, Shalimar police arrested a bootlegger Malik Zahid and recovered 2 wine bottles from him. Industrial Area police arrested accused Taimoor involved in street crimes and recovered snatched cash from him. Sihala police arrested accused Azmat Khan and recovered stolen bike from him. Cases have been registered against these nabbed persons and further investigation is underway.
