LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Saturday held Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar responsible for darkness and poverty in the country and demanded his resignation immediately.

Addressing a press conference, the office bearers of the bar said they would hold an all parties conference on the prevailing political situation in the country. LHCBA President Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali, Secretary Amir Saeed Rawn, Vice President Rashid Lodhi and Finance Secretary Zaheer Butt were present at the conference.  They said that Dar had lost moral justification to remain in the public office. They said he should resign and face corruption charges in the accountability court. They criticised the PML-N over anti-judiciary statements of its leaders.

Lodhi said that disqualified and corrupt people had become a threat to democracy. He said that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was chairing meetings of the federal cabinet at his Jati Umra residence.

Rawn said Sharif defamed the country across the globe by insulting state institutions. He said that ministers behind cancellation of the Khatam-e-Nabuwwat declaration should resign. The government machinery, Lodhi said, was working for a disqualified person.

“The bar will soon hold an all parties conference on the ongoing anti-judiciary campaign in the country,” said Lodhi. He urged the government to hold a dialogue with the participants in a sit-in in Islamabad and avoid use of force against them.
