Protest as ‘killers’ abscond from court

SAHIWAL-Around 200 people including the relatives, shopkeepers and friends of a slain youth strongly protested and blocked Babay Wala Chowk for three hours after the alleged killers escaped from the court of additional sessions judge.
They are accused in the murder of Nadeem. The protesters burnt tyres, sticks wooden furniture and chanted slogans against District Police Officer, DSP City, City Police SHO and police personals for letting them escape after the cancellation of their bails in FIR No 477/17 by Additional and Sessions Judge Wajahit Masood. The killers’ relatives claimed the bail was cancelled but no police were present and they all escaped from the court premises.
The protesters were demanding arrest of the alleged criminals. They blamed that the main accused was real nephew of Haji Abdul Latif, PML-N chairman of UC 06, thus the police facilitated their escape.
On October 20, in broad day light Tariq, his younger brother Usman Mani along with his few friends brutally killed Nadeem, a resident of Bilal Colony, and critically injured Nadeems’ friend Rehan at their tea shop near Babay Wala Chowk. Eye-witness said Nadeem was killed from point blank range as the killer shot in his head.
Traiq and his brothers Usman, Umair and Naeem belong to Sardar group and are nephews of PML-N UC Chairman Haji Abdul Latif. At that time the accused had escaped from scene by making air firing. The city police registered a murder case against five nominated persons and two unknown including Tariq, Usman (real brother), Umair, Naeem and his father Baba Tiwana.
Tariq and Usman got pre-arrest bails from the Multan Bench of Lahore High Court. Later, they were asked to appear in respective sessions court. Additional Session judge in first hearing extended the bail but in yesterday’s hearing, the court cancelled their bail.
The moment he announced the cancellation of bail, all the nominated accused succeeded to escape from court. Upon the deceased relatives got infuriated and staged a protest for three hours. Protesters were demanding arrest of the killers. DPO Atif Ikram met with the protesters and assured them of early arrest of the accused.
