FAISALABAD-A Judicial Magistrate sentenced Central Jail superintendent to 20 days in prison and fined him Rs20,000 to over misbehaving with a civil judge and impeding judicial proceedings.
Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Abid also ordered that the accused Central Jail superintendent Saqib Nazeer would have to undergo five more days in jail if he fails pay the fine.
According to prosecution, on the directives of District and Sessions judge, civil judge Amir Raza Bittu visited central jail before Eidul Azha to provide relief to prisoners involved in minor offences.
Meanwhile, central jail superintendent Saqib Nazir misbehaved with the civil judge and asked him to stop all judicial proceeding on the jail premises. The superintendent was informed that it is a routine of the judiciary to hold such proceedings on the directives of the District and Sessions judge on every eid but Mr Saqib Nazir appeared adamant. Source said that civil judge Amir Raza Bittu was busy hearing the case of an accused imprisoned on charge of possessing illegal weapon when the jail superintendent along with his 10 armed guards came there and stopped the judge from further proceeding. The superintendent was suspended on the same day. Moreover, on the complaint of the civil judge, the judicial magistrate heard the case and sent the superintendent district jail, found him guilty of the charges.
