Indian forces resort to unprovoked firing

PATHANKOT/SIALKOT (Online) - Indian Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to unprovoked firing in Bamial Sector along the Working Boundary late Sunday night, resulting in retaliatory action by Pakistan side. However, no casualty has been reported so far. Military officials say Indias allegation that Rangers started fire at the International Boundary and Working Boundary are totally baseless. According to the sources, Indian forces started fire around 11 pm last night at Simbal post in Bamial Sector after which cross firing lasted for 30 minutes. Officials said Pakistan Army would take up the issue of unprovoked firing with Indian authorities. There have been incidents of unprovoked firing from Indian side in Poonch and Amritsar sectors in the recent past for which protests had been lodged with Indian authorities a number of times. Despite the peace agreement, BSF is involved in repeated firing incidents and a flag meeting will soon be called to settle the thorny issue.
