SHEIKHUPURA
A large number clerks held a demonstration and staged a sit-in in front of the executive district officer’s office over the death of a grade 4 employee Ashraf Shaheen.
All Pakistan Clerk Association Punjab President Akram Saroya while addressing on this occasion held EDO Tariq Rafique responsible for the death of the employee as his salary had been withheld without any justification for the last six months.
Thus, he fell ill and died under financial constraints. Family could not arrange proper treatment as his salary was the only source of income for the family. The president demanded that the chief minister should intervene the matter and give a job to the deceased’s son in education department. He also demanded compensation for his family.
He further said that a case against EDO Tariq Rafique should be registered under section 302.
Otherwise, APCA would continue its demonstration throughout the province, he threatened. If their demands were not met till 20th of March, a pen-down strike would be observed throughout the province. When contacted, the EDO said Ashraf’s salary was stopped due to his long absence without any intimation and various other issues.
ONE HELD:The district police arrested a criminal from Azad Kashmir who was wanted in murder, dacoity, kidnapping for ransom and extortion cases.
The police raided and arrested Irfan alias Fana Gujjar who was involved in more than 30 cases.
CAR SNATCHED: A dacoity incident was reported here the other night.
