LSE holds prize distribution ceremony
Lahore (Staff Reporter): The Lahore Stock Exchange conducted the Prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the Virtual Investment Competition under the Financial Literacy Initiative - campus outreach program in collaboration with the South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) in LSE Auditorium. Chairman Primus Investment Management Ltd. Mr. Khalid Aziz Mirza,  appeared as the guest of Honor and graced the event. The competition was supported by the Primus Investment Management Ltd. sponsoring a sum of Rs 100,000 by the Primus Investment Ltd to be distributed amongst the top five Winners.
Cash prize of Rs. 50,000 was presented to Miss Saba Ishaque, student of Hailey College of Banking and Finance as the top winner. The second cash prize of Rs. 25000 was presented to Mr. Nirwan Farooqi from MAO College. Mr. Shahzeb Ayaz from National Collage of Business Administration scored the third position and was presented a cash prize of Rs. 12000. Mr. Imran Ramzan and Ms. Uzma from Hailey Collage of Banking and Finance obtained fourth and fifth positions respectively.

LCCI membership dept to remain open on 31st
Lahore (Staff Reporter): The membership department of the LCCI will continue to facilitate its members from 9 am to 5 pm without any break till 31st March, the last date for renewal of membership. According to an office order, the decision to work continuously without one hour break has been taken by the management of the LCCI to facilitate members who wanted to get their membership renewed by 31st March.  LCCI VP Kashif Anwar said that there was a demand from the members that till 31st March a continuous eight hour working by the membership department should be ensured to facilitate the members and avoid any inconvenience to the business doing people.

Need-based application of fertilizers stressed for Bt cotton
MULTAN (APP): Agriculture experts have advised growers to apply fertilizers on the basis of needs of the soil to enhance production from early sown Bt cotton varieties. Weak soil contains Phosphorous below 7 PPM, average fertile soil Phosphorous ratio ranges from 7 to 14 PPM while fertile land above 14 PPM, says a release issued by media liaison unit of Punjab agriculture department. Experts suggested that growers should apply 161kg Nitrogen, 70kg Phosphorous and 50kg Potash per acre ie (3 bags of DAP, six and 3/4 bags of Urea and 2 bags of potassium sulphate) for enrichment of weaker soil.
For average fertile land, growers should apply 161kg Nitrogen, 58kg Phosphorous and 50 kg Potash i.e (two and half bags of DAP, 6 bags of Urea and two bags of potassium sulphate) while fertile land should get 161 kg Nitrogen, 46 kg Phosphorous and 50 kg Potash i.e (two bags of DAP, six and 1/4th bags of Urea and two bags of potassium sulphate).
The quantity of Nitrogen should vary depending upon weather conditions and soil fertility. Growers should apply comparatively lesser quantity of Nitrogen in case of Bt cotton varieties that produce taller plants. However, its quantity can be increased depending upon the crop condition and number of bolls per plant.
Experts said early sown Bt cotton varieties need higher quantity of micronutrient like Zinc and Boron and fertilizers.
They should apply Zinc Sulphate 33 per cent 5 kilogram or 21 per cent 10 kilogram and Uric Acid 3.5 kilogram per acre after soil analysis.
Growers should apply prescribed quantity of Phosphorous, Potash, Zinc, and Boron and 1/6th of the prescribed quantity of Nitrogen at the time of sowing.
Similar 1/6th quantity of Nitrogen be applied some 30-35 days after sowing. Remaining quantity of Nitrogen be applied at the time of water application while maintaining a gap of one Nitrogen-less water application. Quantity of Nitrogen can vary on the basis of weather conditions, soil condition and crop situation.
Application of 200 kilogram animal waste organic fertilizers along with Phosphorous can yield better results.
Application of Nitrogen on dry land must immediately be followed by water application. Fertilizers application in the evening gives better results. Growers should apply half bag Urea per acre at the time of first four to five water applications in case of virus attack, the release concluded.

Finland team visits PIEDMC
Lahore (Staff Reporter):A delegation led by the ambassador of Republic of Finland Mr. Rauli Suikkanen visited PIEDMC Head Office here yesterday. The General Manager Marketing and Administration, Ijaz Azeem welcomed the delegation and briefed about the present and upcoming projects of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company. While sharing future plans of development, the GM (Marketing and Administration) explained that special efforts are being made to bring under developed areas of Punjab at par with others. Mr. Rauli Suikkanen hailed the excellent services rendered by PIEDMC to attract local and foreign investors.

Lahore (Staff Reporter):The US Pakistan Business Council (USPBC) led a trade mission to Punjab Board of Investment & Trade (PBIT). The Delegation represented a wide range of industry sectors such as advertising and public relations, Agriculture, Energy, Consumer goods and IT. The delegation included Miles Young, President of USPBC/Worldwide Chairman of Ogilvy &Mather, Ms. Esperanza G. Jelalian, Ms.Carolyn L.Brehm Vice President Global Government Relations and Public Policy, P&G/member Board of directors USPBC, David C. Wilhem, Partner and Chief strategy Officer, Hecate Energy and Kamran Qamar, Financial Controller Cargill International Trading Pvt. Ltd.
The delegation was welcomed by Director PBIT, Ms. Tayyaba Kamal and Deputy Manager Investor Relations, Shehryar Rana. Additional Director Corporate Finance PBIT, Anwar ul Haq, apprised members of the delegation about PBIT and its achievements and gave them a presentation about the investment opportunities in Punjab particularly in energy sector.
