Pakistan team win medals in international rowing competition

JOHAR BAHARU - Pakistan rowing team brought laurel for the country during the Asian Indoor Rowing Championships 2017, which was held in Johar Baharu, Malaysia.

The team secured three medals, one gold, one silver and one bronze, at the international competition, according to a press statement. Pakistan’s mixed four clinched the gold medal, which has been won by Pakistan after 14 years. The athletes who participated in the category include Maqbool Ali, Rashid Hussain, Rabia Amjad and Naila Bano.

Moreover, the team from Pakistan clinched silver medal in the lightweight men pair category. The athletes, who represented Pakistan in the event, include Waliullah Khan and Muzammil Shehzad. Pakistan’s team secured a bronze medal in the lightweight mixed category.

Those who represented Pakistan in the event include Sohaib Ahmed, Muzammil Shehzad, Naila Bano and Nighat Kausar. This have been the best performance of the Pakistan team at an Asian-level competition since the establishment of Pakistan Rowing Federation in Pakistan, the press statement added.
