Bench, bar gear up for LHC’s 150th anniversary

SARGODHA- A meeting was held to review the arrangements for the celebrations of 150th anniversary of the Lahore High Court (LHC) commencing from November 1.
The meeting to review the arrangements was held under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Abdul Nasir. He said that media awareness drive, cricket matches, judicial seminars, visit of students of various schools, one special night with judicial staff, and other programmes have be planned to make the event commendable.
The meeting was participated among others by Additional Sessions Judge Farzana Shehzad Khan, Senior Civil Judge Muzaffar Nawaz Malik, DCO Danish Afzal, DPO Sohail Ch, Director Information Rauf Ahmed and Deputy Director Public Relations Sharafat Hussain.
Celebrations would be carried on throughout November. A five-member Organising Committee has been constituted comprising Additional District and Sessions Judge Atiqur Rehman, Additional Sessions Judge Farzana Shehzad Khan, Abu Bakar Siddique Bhatti, Mujahid Ahmed Sher Dil Cheema and Senior Civil Judge Muzaffar Nawaz Malik.
It has been decided that the media would be briefed about the schedule of celebrations. An important event of the celebrations would be held at MBA Hall, University of Sargodha on 12 November. It has also been apprised that a cricket match would be played between Sargodha Bar and District Judiciary teams on November 4.
During the celebrations, children’s tour will also be arranged and the students of various schools would be given opportunity to visualise the justice system in District Judicial Complex.
A seminar on “supremacy of law and common man” will be held on 12th November which would be attended by Garrison and Base Commanders, Commissioner, RPO and some other divisional and district officers of different departments.
