Gepco negligence leaves another dead

HAFIZABAD - The Kalairwala villagers strongly protested against the negligence of Gepco officials over the killing of a youth who was electrocuted due to the company’s negligence.

They demanded action against the concerned officials and payment of adequate compensation to the dependants of the deceased. According to villagers, the high tension wires were hanging quite low in the village which caused day to day incidents. They said that Muhammad Arslan was on way to the nearby fields when he inadvertently touched the hanging overhead cable.

As a result, he received serious shocks and died before any medical aid could be made available to him. A few days ago, a youngman Jamshaid Ahmad was electrocuted in similar manner. They have called upon the Gepco authorities to raise the level of overhead cables to prevent recurrence of such fatal incidents.

ACCIDENT: A youngman was killed on-the-spot while seven members of the family including three women were seriously injured when a truck dashed against their jeep on Gujranwala Road near Ramgarh, 15 kilometers from here.

According to rescue source, a family of eight members of Hafizabadwere on way to Gujranwala on a vehicle and when reached near Ramgarh a recklessly driven truck coming from opposite direction rammed against it as a result of which Muhammad Javed died on-the-spot. Kainat, Zarish, Arslanand four others seriously injured who were shifted to DHQ Hospital by Rescue-1122. The police have registered a case against the truck driver who sped away after the mishap.

HAFIZABAD: Unidentified car lifters stolen away car No. LEE-6950 from the residence of Sheikh Raheelof Alipur Road Hafizabad last night.

However, the owner reported the incident to Helpline 15. Consequently the police chased the accused. On seeing the police mobile following them the accused abandoned the car near Jinnah Chowk on Gujranwala Road and ran away. The police have registered a case against the accused.
