ISLAMABAD - The war of words between PPP leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan intensified here on Wednesday after the latter accused the former of handing over lists of Sikh leaders, leading a separation movement, to India during his stint as interior minister.

The allegation through a spokesman of the interior ministry was levelled against Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan a day after when he accused Chaudhry Nisar among one of the main five characters behind leaking information of national security meeting to the media.

Intestinally, the two chaudhries have entered into a similar brawl of words during the sit-ins of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehrik in front of the Parliament during 2014. And this time, both again entered into the war of accusations ahead of the PTI’s November 2 ‘lockdown Islamabad’ protest over the Panama leaks.

“Aitzaz Ahsan never clarified the accusation against him of giving the list of Sikh leaders to India,” the unnamed spokesman of the interior ministry said adding that how can he accused others when facing such allegation. “Today those are lecturing the nation on corruption, they got LPG benami quota from then Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in 1889,” he said hinting at Aitzaz Ahsan. The spokesman further said: “A person who owns every sofa and carpet in his home gifted by a property tycoon, he should look at his own character and actions before accusing others,” he said accusing Aitzaz of having links with property tycoon Malik Riaz.

Aitzaz Ahsan the other day while talking to the media had alleged that Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan is behind the leaking of information of national security meeting to the media. He had said that Nisar was among five characters that leaked this information.

In response to statement of spokesman of interior ministry, Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan while talking to the media rebutted the allegation of handing over list of Sikh leaders, leading the Khalistan movement, to India. “I should be tried if allegations are true,” he said. He demanded of Chaudhry Nisar to disclose his assets. “I feel pity on Chaudhry Nisar because the party had left him alone. I am hovering over his nerves,” he said. He said that interior minister should be questioned “what advices he dad been giving to me at my home during the lawyers movement.
