Shafiq jumps five places to 20th in ICC Test rankings

DUBAI: Asad Shafiq has progressed to number 20 in the latest ICC Player Rankings for Test Batsmen, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Wednesday.

The improvement in rank came after Shafiq scored a remarkable century which almost led Pakistan to what would have been an extraordinary victory in the first Test match of their tour of Australia.

Shafiq jumped five places from the 25th position to his current ICC ranking.

Younis Khan jumped one place from 10th to 9th. This upgrading was the result of his comeback in second innings.

However, Skipper Misbahul Haq was demoted to 19th position. He was previously on 14th position.

On the bowling side, no Pakistani bowler except Yasir Shah made it to the top 10. Shah managed only three wickets during the Brisbane Test match against Australia.
