LAHORE Customs stunned title favourites National Bank of Pakistan in the final of the 29th National Junior Hockey Championship here at the National Hockey Stadium on Thursday. Customs defeated NBP by two goals and throughout the match, they kept them under pressure. Customs took the lead in the 25th minute of the game and doubled it in the second session when the clock reached 58th minute. Interestingly, both the goals came through field moves and just one short corner was whistled for the winners while the losers got three and all were saved by the rivals defences. Hafiz Zohain banged the board first for Customs while Salman hit the board to make the win 2-0 for his team. For the third place, Sui Southern Gas Limited faced tough resistance from Police in their 2-1 win, thanks to Mohammad Aleem Bilal, who scored both the goals. After a barren first half, all the action was witnessed in the second half with Bilal of SSGC going in for the opener in the 41st minute which was levelled by Tasawar Abbas in the 49th minute. The winner for SSGC came in the 64th minute when Bilal against pushed the ball right into the target in a penalty corner. President Pakistan Hockey Federation Qasim Zia was the chief guest of the closing ceremony and distributed the trophies to the players. Final results: Customs beat NBP 2-0 (final score), 1-0 (Half Time) Customs : Hafiz Zohaib 25th Minute (FG), Salman 58th Minute (FG). Customs got one penalty corner. NBP got three penalty corners. Third position match: SSGC beat Police 2-1 (Full Time), 0-0 (Half Time) SSGC: Muhammad Aleem Bilal 41st, 64th Minute (PC). SSGC got 5 penalty corners. Police: Tasawar Abbas 49th Minute (PC).
