Conference on child rights
LAHORE (PR): Children are our future and we should join hands to end child slavery. The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau organised a provincial conference on child rights to discuss the existing scenario of child rights including child protection in Punjab and to ensure appropriate legislation in this regard. An independent child rights commission to be made in Punjab was proposed. The conference was attended by Saba Sadiq, Rana Sanaullah, Nadia Jamil and many others.

Royal Palm’s Chameleon wins ISO 22000 Award
LAHORE (PR): Dr Haas, who is the World Wide CEO of TUV Austria Group and Dr Preiss, International Director of TUV, awarded the ISO 22000 certificate to Ramzan Sheikh, CEO Royal Palm, which confirms the application of Food Safety Management System in the famous Chameleon Restaurant. This is an honor for Pakistan as this is first restaurant in the country to be awarded this certificate.
On this occasion, the General Manager of Royal Palm, Omer Mir stated that award of this became possible as Chameleon Restaurant has in place the systems as per international standards and this includes, food safety manual ,comprehensive training of kitchen staff, vendor certification, pest control applications in place and other allied system requirements.
The management representative of the ISO 22000-2005, Asad Mahmood stated that the food lovers can now enjoy heartening and delightful meals at the Chameleon. On this occasion Rashid Mehr of TUV and Parvez Qureshi of Royal Palm were also present.

DIBPL set up another branch

KARACHI (PR): Dubai Islamic Bank Pakistan Limited (DIBPL) has set up its Korangi Industrial Area branch in Karachi.
The branch was inaugurated by SBP Deputy Governor Saeed Ahmed. Chairman of DIBPL Mohamed Saeed Ahmed Abdulla Al Sharif, CEO of DIBPL Junaid Ahmed, other members of the board of directors and senior management were also present at the occasion.

KARACHI (PR): Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Akira Ouchi made an official visit to Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Jamshoro from November 17 to 18, 2014.
On November 17, Consul-General Ouchi visited Mirpukhas, to deliver a lecture on “Bilateral relations between Japan and Pakistan” to the members of the Rotary Club of Mirpurkhas. About 60 members from the Rotary Club of Mirpurkhas and other branches of Rotary Club members attended the lecture.
 Anwar Mehtab, the President of Rotary Club of Mirpurkhas, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Consul-General for visiting Mirpurkhas.
Consul-General Ouchi also delivered a lecture at the University of Sindh, Mirpurkhas Campus on “Education System of Japan”. Over 100 students and faculty members of the University attended the lecture. Prof. Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili, Vice Chancellor of the University of Sindh, expressed sincere gratitude to Ouchi for delivering very interesting lecture in which students and faculty members of the University of Sindh were able to gain insightful and comprehensive knowledge in regard to educational system of Japan.
On November 18, Consul-General Ouchi visited Jamshoro, to deliver a lecture at Far East & Southeast Asia Area Study Center, University of Sindh, on “Japan’s Foreign Policy”. About 70 students and faculty members attended the lecture. Prof. Dr. Hamadullah Kakepoto, Director of Far East & Southeast Asia Area Study Center, expressed sincere gratitude to Ouchi for delivering very valuable lecture. Also on this occasion, Consul-General Ouchi visited the Institute of Sindhology.


Tevta’s solar training course

LAHORE (PR): Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Shaikh has said that TEVTA has successfully launched one month free Solar Training Course at its Govt Staff Training College Gulberg. 4000 male and female would be trained under TVET Reform Support Program by GIZ. So far, 122 trainees from across the Punjab have completed this training program in 5 batches.
The duration of the whole project is 30 month. Participants from all over Punjab are also given stipend of Rs. 3000 each and free tool kit during the training along with accommodation facility.
He was addressing a meeting to review the progress of solar technology training course program. Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi and other officers were also present in the meeting.
Irfan Qaiser Shaikh said that under the said project, 68 TEVTA instructors will also be trained as master trainers from 34 TEVTA institutions, out of which 48 instructors have now been trained. It has been designed for small entrepreneurs to promote the solar technology in Pakistan. By observing the potential and success of the project, a component of “Solar Water Heating System” has also been added into the Project under which 10 further TEVTA Institutions will be provided the complete set up for running the course.

LLM degree awarded

ISLAMABAD (PR): Keeping her academic graph high, Komal Bakhtawari has passed her Masters in Law (L.L.M) from the BPP University London with a distinction. Komal is the daughter of a well-known businessman of Islamabad and the ex-president of ICCI Zafar Bakhtawari. She also completed her L.L.B from the University of London. She has completed her Masters Degree in International Business Law and soon intends to do her practice.
