Five succumb to Karachi violence

KARACHI - Some unidentified gunmen kidnapped two men of their rival gang and shot them dead at a public place in Lyari while three others were killed in various violence-related incidents here on Thursday.
The gangsters brought two rival group members on motorbikes and shot them in public near Qadir School, within the remits of Kalakot police station. Police said the gunmen brought the men on two motorbikes and killed them publically. The assailants managed to flee from the scene. Being informed, a police rushed to spot and shifted the bodies to Civil Hospital where one of the victims was identified as Nawab Khamiso resident of Rangiwara, Lyari associated with Baba Ladla gang.
The police said both the persons killed were used to work for Baba Ladla gang and abducted and killed by rival gang of Uzair Baloch.
Separately, the gunmen shot dead a 59-year-old man namely Bahadur Ali near Ibrahim Ali Bhai Auditorium in the remits of Soldier Bazar Police Station.
Police said that unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle shot Ali and managed to flee. The victim was on his way to home on a rickshaw after withdrawing money from a bank when the gunmen tried to robbed him and shot him dead over resistance. The body was handed over to the family after autopsy at Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre.
Unknown gunmen shot dead a man here in the remits of PIB Colony police station. Police said that gunmen targeted Noor Muhammad Khokhar and managed to flee. The wounded man was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injures.
Police said the deceased was associated with a drug mafia and suspected that his comrades had shot him over some personal dispute. Shah Faisal Police found a three-day-old body form Natha Khan Bridge. Being informed, a police team rushed to the spot and shifted the body to JPMC for autopsy. The body was shifted to morgue for identification after autopsy at JPMC while cause of murder has yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, at least three gangsters including two Lyari gang war culprits were shot dead in separate encounters with law enforcers. A criminal was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Buner in an encounter with Rangers personnel in wee hours of Thursday.
In another action, Rangers also launched a targeted operation in Lyari's area Kalakot and killed a gang war criminal in an exchange of fire. The deceased culprit was identified as Irfan alias Kalu.
According to Rangers spokesman, the slain criminal was involved in target killing, extortion and abduction for ransom. He was wanted for more than 40 counts of violent crimes like manslaughter, assault, aggravated assault, kidnapping, armed robberies, extortion, possession of illegal arms, etc.", a Rangers spokesman said.
According to paramilitary troops, the suspect was allegedly affiliated with Baba Ladla Group, a ruthless gang of criminals based in the seedy slums of Lyari.
Despite dozens of crackdowns, the gang war related violence, which has so far claimed hundreds of lives, continues to thrive in Lyari.
Similarly, in another encounter in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, another gang war criminal was shot dead.
Police said the criminal Owais aka Teku was involved in various robberies.
Meanwhile, Rangers Special Task Force nabbed three extortionists from New Karachi area.
They said that one of the arrested extortionists belonged to a religious organisation and looted money was also recovered from his possession.
